Arbroath & Montrose District Scouts

The Purpose of Scouting is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.
 
Arbroath & Montrose District Scouts has 8 Scout Groups spread across the District which offer scouting to young people aged 6 to 14 years, the Scout District offers activities for 18-25 year olds with volunteering opportunities available over a variety of roles alongside supporting the District Active Support Unit which offers a wide variety of activities.

Arbroath Town Mission Centre

Arbroath Town Mission operates as both a Church Fellowship and a Community Centre. The Church Fellowship seeks to be a great place for people of all-ages to find out more about God and become part of a growing Christian community, whilst the Centre offers an array of valuable services to our local community.

Friockheim Community Hub

 

Friockheim Community Hub Ltd (Friockhub) is a vibrant community facility offering services such as a community cafe, gym, a large multi purpose hall and smaller meeting rooms available for let. We have a number of activities in the hub from dancing and fitness classes, quiz nights, craft groups and much more. We also have a hairdresser, beauty therapist and podiatrist utilising our therapy room. We aim to offer services to the residents of Friockheim and beyond of all ages. Havilah Arbroath (Community Spirit)

Havilah is a faith based community drop in centre in Arbroath where everyone is welcome. We offer a tea/coffee/toast service along with a soup lunch every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Opening at 11am to 2pm with lunch served at 12.30pm. We have many facilities and activities, a pool table, dart board and table tennis.

We also have a relaxation suite where anyone can take advantage of a quiet space to talk one to one or participate in relaxation therapies.

We also have an IT suite where our members are encouraged to learn/practice their IT skills. It’s a well-equipped space and many members use the computers for benefit applications, CV writing and job search.

The space is also used as a classroom for 121 and group literacy and numeracy learning.

Overall we take pride in offering a service and a space where the socially excluded, homeless, those suffering an addiction be it alcohol or drugs can begin their road to recovery in a relaxed, open and supportive environment. We connect and refer to other agencies who can provide a more formalised recovery programme.

HOPE Organic Garden

HOPE is a thriving organic garden on Scotland’s east coast. It is an environmentally friendly project, providing horticulture training and work experience. All our trainees are people with learning disabilities who live in the Angus area. HOPE has a positive and growing profile in the community, and our shop in the garden sells the organic vegetables and fruit that we grow.

Hospitalfield House

Dedicated to contemporary art and ideas, Hospitalfield is a place to work, study, learn, visit and enjoy. An historic artist’s house in Arbroath, we hosting artists’ residencies and study groups, exhibitions and events.

Volunteers are vital to the work that we do at Hospitalfield, bringing skills, knowledge and enthusiasm and providing their time with the greatest generosity. Activities include gardening, walking groups, history and heritage, collections care, events and exhibitions. We welcome people from all walks of life to take part and there are plenty of ways to get involved.

Health, wellbeing and recovery are promoted and there is access to self-help resources and professionals from local services. Volunteering opportunities are available for people in recovery who are keen to provide peer support to others and learn new skills.
