Forfar Open Garden
Forfar Open Garden is a charity run community garden, open all year round for volunteering, and to the public. Our aim as a therapeutic space, is to promote the health benefits of gardening, being in nature and of social connection. We work with all ages and abilities to maintain this beautiful garden and woodland.
The main site contains food growing areas amongst more formal planting, a greenhouse and polytunnel. This area also has an office/ social space and toilet facilities, all of which are wheelchair accessible. The woodland is a tranquil space with a cosy bothy room and lots of wildlife. We garden organically and practise sustainability whenever possible.
Opening in 2015 as a dementia garden, our work has expanded to offer volunteer opportunities to all, with additional support when required. Connections with the wider community are also valued, and we continue to develop links with visiting schools, nurseries and other local groups.
