Dads Rock

New Dad Support is open to all dads across Scotland and can be accessed through self-referral or referrals from health professionals such as GPs, midwives, or health visitors. Once a referral is made, dads are usually contacted within 48 hours, ensuring timely support at what can be a very vulnerable time.

The service provides free, one-to-one peer support for dads and dads-to-be who may be feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or struggling with the emotional demands of fatherhood. Participants are carefully matched with trained peer supporters who offer regular support through phone calls, texts, or in-person meet-ups, depending on what suits each individual best. The focus is on providing a listening ear and practical encouragement in a non-judgemental, informal way.

The service from Dads Rock is Scotland’s first national perinatal mental health support specifically for dads, offering vital help from the antenatal stage right through to a baby’s first birthday. Recognising that around 14% of new fathers experience mental health challenges such as low mood, anxiety, depression, or difficulty bonding with their baby, this service was created to ensure that dads aren’t left behind during the transition to parenthood.
